Why Disney World Isn’t Just for Kids

As adults, we can often be guilty of assuming that Disney World is just for kids. And maybe, if you have kids, you’d love for them to experience the magic of Disney, but are reluctant to go because you’re unsure that there’ll be enough to keep parents entertained.

Whether you’re travelling with or without kids, we’re here to dispel the myth that Disney is just for children and prove that adults, too, will have the time of their lives on a holiday to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Disney World is a 40 square mile giant wonderland, consisting of four spectacular theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom; two water parks – Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach; four championships golf courses; 30 resort hotels; 11 spas and health clubs; nearly 300 fantastic dining options; Disney’s wedding pavilion; ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex; Disney’s BoardWalk; Disney Springs Area and much, much more…

With all this in mind, you’re never too old for Disney as there are hundreds of things to do for people of all ages.

Epcot is great for adults as it features the awesome World Showcase, which allows guests to experience the culture and cuisine of 11 different countries. It’s great fun to go from ‘country to country’ sampling either some food or a drink from each one. What a great way to travel the world in just one day! If you time your visit right, you could be at Epcot during the International Food & Wine Festival, which is next due to take place in 2022.

For some other unique dining experiences, try out Bongos Cuban Café and the all-you-can-eat House of Blues Gospel Brunch in Disney Springs or head to the luxurious Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and treat yourself to a relaxing afternoon tea at Grand View Tea Room – not all Disney restaurants are about character interaction, autographs, hugs and kisses, you know!

As well as being great for afternoon tea, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a superb accommodation choice for adults visiting Disney, but another suitable option is the romantic and magical Wilderness Lodge – not to be confused with the cabins and campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Having said that, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is an excellent base for your time at Disney World if you want a peaceful retreat as it’s nestled in a picturesque pine forest.  Here you can escape the chaos and engage in some fishing or kayaking, follow scenic woodland trails or simply relax at the white, sandy beach.

There are countless other exhilarating goings-on that adults will enjoy throughout Disney World. If kayaking sounds like your kind of thing, why not take it a step further and charter your own private yacht at Disney’s Polynesian Resort’s Seven Seas Lagoon? Dare yourself to take on the 120 foot drop of the tallest waterslide in America at Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park; reach speeds of over 120mph whilst fulfilling your dreams of being a NASCAR driver or take the plunge at the Epcot DiveQuest and swim amongst 6,000 sea creatures at Caribbean Coral Reef, a 5.7 million gallon aquarium. You could even come face to face with a shark!

If you prefer something a little less adrenaline-fuelled, catch a show at the Comedy Club or Cirque du Soleil at Downtown Disney or maybe the Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You could also venture on Epcot’s Backstage Magic or Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Backstage Safari and learn everything there is to know about Disney! It’s also well worth reflecting on the man himself, who has made the whole fantasy a reality – Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream is a multimedia gallery exhibit of rare artefacts and has a short film that brings his story to life.

Be sure to catch one of the breath-taking firework displays before you return to normality after your holiday. There’s Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Wishes Nighttime Spectacular at Magic Kingdom Park and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot – all of which are sure to blow your mind!

So take this as proof that Disney World is by no means just for children – even the incredible theme park rides are adrenaline-charged and enough to test any grown man’s nerves! But remember, when it comes down to it, we’re all just big kids at heart anyway!
