Stuff That's Good to Know
Florida holidays have become so popular, that visitors tend to return more than once.
Normally temperatures inland are higher than at the coast, except occasionally during the winter. Summer temperatures average about 27°C although they can peak at around 35°C while during the winter the averages drop to a comfortable 20°C in the south and around 12°C in the north.
If you’re a lover of hot temperatures and don’t mind the humidity, visiting Florida between May and September is right for you.
If you prefer weather that’s more pleasant, you’ll find that March to May and October to November are cooler.
By Train: Florida’s mainline trains run to either New York City or Washington D.C. The Amtrak Auto Train carries vehicles as well as passengers. Meanwhile, Amtrak Silver Meteor and Silver Star run from Miami to The Big Apple. In both cases, you can stop off at a variety of Florida cities in between.
By Taxi: Taxicabs run a shuttle service between the airport and the city of Orlando and from the main resorts to the theme parks. Take care to use only metered cabs to avoid taxi scams.
By Hire Car: The options for cheap rental cars in Orlando are good and you can pick one up at the airport if you wish or even from your resort if you want a few days away to explore.
By Bus: The I-Ride Trolley is cheap as chips and will take you around the International Drive area in Orlando. Alternatively, the shuttle services mean you can share a 15-seater van with other passengers.
