Where should we stay?

Staying at a Disney owned property is fantastic and have many advantages, from using the free Disney transportation to getting extra hours in the parks, however it can be is more expensive than staying outside the parks. One way to save when you stay at Disney is to look out for the eat for free offer or a park ticket offer.

Do we need to rent a car?

If you don’t stay at Disney then I highly recommend it. You can then plan your times to be at the parks and leave without avoiding disappointment if you don’t make the buses. A car will also give you the ability to take more with you for the day rather than carrying it around all the time.

How old do children need to be to enjoy it?

Just like the films there isn’t an age group that won’t enjoy Disney. There is something for everyone at the parks and the magic really comes to life. Presonally I took my yougntes at 18 months, he loved it then and still does.

Does Disney cater for young children?

Kids 2 and under get in for free and there is plenty for children this age to enjoy. There is a Baby Centre in each of the four major theme parks has a Many rides offer a “baby swap” where some members of your party go on the ride while someone waits with the younger children. When the first group is done those that waited are allowed to ride without waiting in the sometimes long lines.

What is the best time of year to go?

It is open 365 days a year and people go every single day. The crowds are less outside of the school holidays and September and May are still warm so a visit to a water park can be in the plans. Disney holds many key events throughout the year with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas being particularly special. Park hours will vary depending on the season and can be found on their website six months in advance.

What should we do first?

It’s completely down to personal choice. You may want to see the park that is at the top of your list or save the excitement until the end of your holiday. Just check if any of the parks have something special happening whilst you are there. If you still need inspiration check out my expert tips to see what they recommend to do.

When do we need to be booking Disney Dining arrangements?

Most restaurants can be booked 180 days in advance and in peak times they do book up quick so the sooner you can book the better and you avoid any disappointment. Making reservations usually costs nothing, and can save you lots of time during your trip. Some dining arrangements will require a credit card guarantee and a 24-48 hour cancellation to avoid a no-show fee.

Should we dine with the characters?

It is definitely a memory to treasure from your holiday and a great autograph opportunity, but booking is a must. It has a more personal feel than just meeting one of the characters in the park.

Why should I buy my tickets before I go?

The simple answer is that they will be cheaper. They will also allow you more time to enjoy the parks once you are there, rather than queuing to buy tickets.

Any Other Tips?

When planning, consider having a relaxing day in the middle by the pool or shopping. It will keep the excitement alive and it’s nice to spend some time without queues and crowds.
