Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is an incredible day out that the whole family can enjoy. A tropical paradise; it’s full of twisting water slides, wild rapids and the world’s largest outdoor wave pool. For the biggest thrills, try the Crush ’n’ Gusher (the only water coaster of its kind in Central Florida) or experience the pitch black drop of the Humunga Kowabunga. Why not take the plunge and swim amongst real life sharks, tropical fish and stingrays as you snorkel across Shark Reef? You’ll also find slides, attractions and bubbling jets to keep the little ones cool at Ketchakiddee Creek.

There’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained on a visit to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, from all the attractions and slides to the dining options, gift shops and even a Sandy White Beach to lay on and soak up the warm Floridian sun. The water-filled adventure never stops on Mount Mayday.

Key Attractions

Fun for the little ones

  • Ketchakiddee Creek: A scaled-down play area for the little kids; your child will love the mini slide, fountains and waterfalls in this water wonderland.
  • Castaway Creek: Sit back and relax on this leisurely lazy river. It’s a fun and scenic ride that takes in all the sights as it encircles the entire water park.
  • Bay Slides: Little kids can take their first steps towards the big slides on these miniature versions. Even the smallest and least daring children will love these twin body slides.

For tweens and teens

  • Gangplank Falls: Grab three of your friends or family, jump on a giant inner tube and get swept along 300 feet of rushing rapids. This is the medium-intensity option of the Park’s three Falls raft rides.
  • Storm Slides: This trio of twisting and turning slides will see you hurtle down three storeys of gushing water at high speed. How big a splash will you make at the bottom?
  • Keelhaul Falls: The least intense of the Park’s three Falls raft rides, hop on a single-rider inner tube for a smooth, scenic, yet still swift journey through the rapids.

Big thrills

  • Mayday Falls: Hold on tight to your inner tube as you take on the highest and longest waterslide in the whole Park. This turbulent trip down Mount Mayday is the most intense of the Park’s three Falls raft rides.
  • Humunga Kowabunga: You’ll barely have time to catch your breath as you plummet down a five-storey, near vertical body slide. And did we mention that it’s in the dark?
  • Crush ‘n’ Gusher: One of the Park’s signature attractions; you’ll love this roller-coaster-like raft ride. Grab a friend and defy gravity as you whoosh along the tube slides, taking on sudden dips and hairpin bends as you go.

Other Activities

  • Snorkel at Shark Reef – Take to the water with real life sharks, tropical fish and stingrays as you snorkel across this man-made reef. Spend about 15 minutes in the 362,000 gallons of saltwater and let the current carry you through the 68-degree waters – the temperature that the fish love. It’s an incredibly unique experience, not to be missed!
  • Learn to Surf Like a Pro – Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is home to the world’s largest outdoor wave pool, so whether you’re a pro or a complete novice, you’ll want to take advantage of the opportunity to hang 10 in these waters. You can book surf lessons or just take part in a private session without the teaching prior to the park opening to the public. Spaces are limited though, so be sure to book in advance.
  • Magic Ink & Bead Artisans – Add some sparkle to your look at this popular, fun and interactive kiosk at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Try your hand at one of the bead-stringing activities, have your face painted or get an airbrushed and glittery temporary tattoo. You could even get some exotic Henna body artwork done. Pick yourself up a piece of souvenir jewellery, all made recycled paper including Disney maps.

Restaurants & Dining

Whether you’re wanting to grab a quick bite to eat on the go, sit down and refuel with a tasty lunch or treat yourself to a delicious dessert, you’ll find some great dining options at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

You can sample the excellent lunch menus at the likes of Typhoon Tilly’s and Leaning Palms or grab a delicious light bite at Lowtide Lou’s or the Snack Shack. For all your wildest sweet desires, make your way to Happy Landings Ice Cream where you can enjoy everything from root beer floats and spectacular sundaes to the incredible ice cream shovelled straight from the Sand Pails, adding your favourite topping to finish it off.

For the adults, there are a few places around the Park where you can enjoy a refreshing alcoholic drink in the sun, but the best place is without a doubt Let’s Go Slurpin’. Sit back and enjoy beers, wines, cocktails or one of their frozen specials.

There are only a few shops at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, but you’ll still be able to find all the essentials that you might need for your unforgettable day in the water. High N’ Dry Rentals is the place to head for your hiring needs, whether that be towels and lockers, life jackets (which are free), premium beach chair space or one of the private Beachcomber Shacks. Singapore Sal’s is where you’ll find all your gifts and souvenirs, as well as apparel and anything important you may have forgotten, such as your sun cream. And finally, there’s even a Pearl Factory, where you can have your own pearl set or find your perfect pearl to be set how you want – the perfect souvenir.
