Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

5/5

4.0 Very Good

Set around the shimmering 22-acre Lago Dorado (Lake Dorado) you are transported back to colonial Mexico and join explorers searching for the Seven Cities of Gold. Maybe you’ll find treasure amongst the colourful plazas and the palm-shaded courtyards or the rocky shoreline around the lake? The Mexican theme continues in guestrooms, restaurants and cantinas and attractions at this resort.

With so many fantastic temptations on your doorstep will you have time to enjoy what’s going on in resort? Maybe one of the 3 heated swimming pools will be enough? There’s one in each of the different guestroom areas. The main pool, the Lost City of Cibola is presided over by a striking Mayan Tower with a 123-foot jaguar-like slide and cascading fountain.

If you need some ‘me’ time there’s the La Vida Health Club for a work out and Casa de Belleza for beautiful hair and nails before a night out. You can walk, jog or bike round the trail surrounding the lake or catch a game of sand volleyball. Get your sea legs and take a fishing excursion on the lake or hire a boat yourselves.

The handy Key to the World Card facility allows you to put money on your room key to spend in the theme parks. It is linked to the credit card used to book your accommodation and you can increase or decrease your limit anytime during your stay.

Staying here allows you to take advantage of extended park hours when available. Plus, anything purchased at the theme parks can be delivered free of charge to the resort!

Facilities

You’ll be spoilt for choice at the resort’s 4 Food & Drink experiences. The Maya Grill is the main restaurant serving a mix of Latin/Caribbean food and juicy American steaks. Who could resist the desserts though? Chocolate mousse with coconut ice cream sounds delicious. At Café Rix and the Pepper Market you’ll find snacks and buffet food to grab between activities and also at the al fresco lakeside Laguna Bar.

Room service is also available, just select Food & Drink Options on your guestroom telephone.

Guestrooms at this Spanish-style property are brightly coloured and divided into 3 themed categories: The Casitas for a touch of urban terra-cotta heaven, rustic Ranchos just like those endearing south western pueblos and Cabanas for adorable beach front retreats with hammocks.

Each room is equipped with all mod cons including cable TV, Wi-Fi, ceiling fan, full-length mirror, in-room safe, mini-fridge, hairdryer, iron and board. Rollaways and Pack ‘n Play Playards (portable cot/playpen) are available on request.

The kids are treated to the Mexican theme too. They can look for treasure at the Explorer’s Playground that resembles an archaeological dig. Or enjoy some water fun at the Lost City of Cibola pool with the exciting jaguar slide for the best splashes ever. They can test their skills and their competitive streaks at the Iguana Arcade on the many games. Playing on the warm white sands around the lake will ensure some fun too, although no swimming is allowed in the lake.
